Macau Millions: An unprecedented success with over 1,300 participants
Without a doubt, the Macau Millions was the largest poker tournament ever held in Asia. Indeed, the event which took place in the poker room of the Grand Lisboa casino from April 2 to 10, 2011 brought together a field of 1,329 participants. It was possible because organizers proposed a unique tournament during which participants had 7 days of departure and those who failed to qualify during the first day could try their luck for the next days, which certainly explains this turnout. In addition, the entrance fee was quite reasonable because enthusiasts and amateurs played poker in a major and a professional tournament for only HK $ 2,200 which is the equivalent of 200.
Many Asian players but also international stars of poker filled in the field as the world champion of poker 2010, Jonathan Dumahel who was also attracted by the event. At the end of the competition, the victory came back to a local player, Hung Sheng Lin, who pocketed the top prize of HK $ 400,000. France was well represented at the Macau Million thanks to the excellent course of Brice Renaud. As the only French player who succeeded to qualify after the first day of competition, he was propelled to the final table and was entitled to a podium place by finishing in the runner up place. This beautiful feat earned him a respectable sum of HK $ 300,000 or just over 26,000.
