EPT Berlin: Victory of the Canadian Ben Wilinofsky in German soil
The 2011 edition of the European Poker Tour Berlin (EPT) has just ended peacefully even if a drop in attendance compared to last year's edition was observed. The bad memories of the robbery in 2010 but also the sequence of poker tournaments of the same kind could be explained as the cause. The Canadian Ben Wilinofsky, a great online poker player, chip leader since the beginning of the final, won then the title of this EPT on German soil. He kept his advantage until the end of the tournament and qualified until the final duel that opposed him with the German Max Heinzelmann, a confrontation that he achieved with brilliance. The talent and perseverance of Martin Jacobson, the Swedes in search of a victory for his third final table in an EPT event and the efforts of other opponents were not sufficient to block the road of Wilinofsky, qualified on an online poker room for this tournament. Thus, he was crowned champion of the EPT Berlin 2011 after having ousted Heinzelmann at the final heads'up, was awarded the handsome gain of 825,000 and the EPT bracelet. Jonas Gutteck, Joep van den Bijgaart, Darren Kramer, Armin Mette and Martin Jacobson were respectively ranked 8th, 7th, 6th, 5th and 4th. Vadzim Kursevich was entitled to a place on the podium by finishing 3rd in the tournament.
