Latin American Poker Tour: More than 530 players participate in the tournament
To start its fourth season, Brazil had the pleasure to host the first Latin American Poker Tour (LAPT). An inaugural stage that was marked by the record turnout of poker players. If the number of participants in this South American poker circuit is usually around 400 players since its inception in 2008, the inaugural vintage of the 2011 edition can be described as historic because it managed to gather a field of some 536 individuals who love poker in Sao Paulo. Well known players such as Mari Mayrinck, Humberto Brenes, Angel Guillen, or the double winner of the circuit Jose Nacho Barbero made the trip. Moreover, this city of the samba in the southern hemisphere having 11 million habitants has been delighted to receive an event of such magnitude.
With a buy-in of $ 3,000, the Latin American Poker Tour in Sao Paulo was able to collect a prize pool of $ 1.6 million. Thus, this poker tournament in South America paid the 64 players top with an immense amount of $ 370,000 for the winner of this event. After this Brazilian step, the LAPT will be held in ViƱa del Mar, Chile next month from March 17 to 20, 2011. Successively after, it will be held in Lima, Peru from April 13 to 17, in Rosario, Argentina, from June 1st to 5 and Bogota, Colombia from August 4 to 7, 2011.
