Poker players: Cheating and narcotic traffic observed last week
Two new incidents come to surface in the poker world. The first episode recalls the Ali Tekintamgac case at the Partouche Poker Tour during which the player cheated to win the title. The same incident just happened in the tournament hald at Holland Casino Classic Urecht Dom. Indeed, a player named Kadir Karbulut tried to repeat the same scene with an accomplice, a German journalist. Fortunately, the champion of the European Poker Tour Monte Carlo 2009, Pieter de Korver guessed the fraud and warned his opponents table. The players refused to continue the game and claimed the exclusion of Kadir Karbulut. After conducting a little investigation, the casino officials decided to oust the player from the table. Note that De Korver had a suspicion in realizing the presence of a foreign journalist around the table, which is really unusual for a tournament of this kind taking place in Holland.
Casino Urecht officials said that stringent measures will be taken regarding the access of journalists and reporters in the playroom, a decision that many tournament organizers will certainly follow. The second incident took place a few days ago. Known for his excellent course in live tournaments between the years 2005 and 2010, David Saab, a poker pro of 37 years was arrested last Jan. 24 with his two accomplices Francis Hughes and Robert Reemeus for a narcotics case. The charge against them is very heavy because it's not a case of drug consumption but a 21 kg cocaine trafficking valued at $ 4 million. This case will jeopardize the career of David Saab because he faces a sentence of 25 years imprisonment.
