EPT Deauville: A record field of 891 players registered
As expected, the season 7 of the European Poker Tour Deauville started with a real success. Indeed, this first stage of the year 2011 registered a broad field of 891 participants, one hundred players more than as at the same event last year. So once again, success was at the appointment. The second Day 1 brought together 472 registered players and top players like Bruno Fitoussi, Freddy Deeb, Viktor Blom, Daniel Negreanu, Isabelle Mercier, Vanessa Rousso, Arnaud Mattern, Patrick Bruel, Luca Pagano or the champion of the World Series of Poker 2010 Jonathan Dumahel were part of the field. The prize pool to decide between the 128 best players of the tournament thus amounts 4,276,800 and the champion of the EPT Deauville 2011 will collect the handsome sum of 880,000.
To the delight of the French community, local players registered some remarkable results during the first two days of competition. At the end of Day 1 B, Philippe Massias won the place of chip leader by accumulating a large stack of 175,600 chips. But the player who impressed the most the public is the godfather of French poker, Patrick Bruel alias P14B. Indeed, he currently holds the second place in the Salon des Ambassadeurs with some 153,100 chips in hand. In total, therefore, 9 French players are part of the Top 10 rivals in the race for Day 2 and Guillaume de la Gorce will play with 196,800 chips. Bruno Launais is in second position and Bruel is the 9th position. The public can expect then a French victory despite the presence of major international players like Isuldur in this lead.
