EPT Deauville: A wide field of poker stars for Day 1 A
As expected, the 5,300 Main Event of the European Poker Tour Deauville (EPT) attracted a large crowd of poker enthusiasts. For the first day of competition, the International Center of this seaside resort of Normandy, France welcomed 419 players consisting of amateur players, but also celebrities, talented players and fans looking for a success in live circuit. Thomas Bichon, Antoine Saout, Michel Abecassis, Valentin Messina, Patrick Bruel, Alexia Portal, and Nicolas Babel were all at the rendezvous. Players competed on the gaming tables in 8 game levels lasting one hour each.
At the end of the day, the field narrowed to 297 survivors. To the delight of the French community of poker, their compatriots managed to perform quite remarkable results. Leading the race, Guillaume de la Gorce is holder of 196,800 chips in hand. Bruno Launais is in second position with 185,900 chips. Nicolas Babel, Tristan Clémençon, Ludovic Lacay and Antoine Saout rank respectively at the 5th, 11th, 13th and 19th place. Despite this good result, representatives of the Hexagon are far from being bailed out because of players internationally renowned like Leo Margets, Praz Pans, Theo Jorgensen and Steven Van Zadelhoff are still part of the opponents in the race and with a pretty good place. Other French pros like Fabrice Soulier, Bertrand Grospellier, Estelle Denis will join the Salon des Ambassadeurs for the Day 1 B.
