Aussie Millions 2011: Richard Ashby shined during the 8 Mixed Game
Since a few days, the Crown Casino in Melbourne, Australia hosted the biggest poker circuit in the southern hemisphere, the Aussie Millions. To start this 2011 edition, the organizers proposed a preliminary tournament of $ 1,100 buy-in that knew a huge success by registering a big field of 1,000 participants including several renowned players like Dave Lee, Annette Obrestad, Tony Dunst, James Akenhead or Tony Hachem. The second event, the 8 Mixed Games also attracted professional poker players. By winning against the other 67 competitors in the tournament, Richard Ashby won the title plus a nice prize of $ 23,800. Note that Richard Ashby is a veteran of this tournament series and has already won a trophy in 2005 without forgetting his six times qualifying for the final table of the previous events of the Aussie Millions. Despite the fact that he had the lowest stack at the beginning of this final, Ashby has once again proved his status as a major player and won the victory with brilliance.
Some of poker elite are trying currently to fight the title of High Roller $ 25,000. The field of the event is set at 24 participants which include Van Marcus, Howard Lederer, John Juanda, Tom Dwan, Eli Elezra, Patrik Antonius, James Edge, Barny Boatman and David Oppenheim. After the crowning of the winner of the High Roller, players currently present at the Crown Casino in Melbourne will enter the $ 10,000 Main Event. Last year, the tournament attracted 746 players and this year organizers hope to register a record field of 1,000 participants. And poker fans are also expected to participate in the $ 100,000 Challenge and the High Stakes scheduled to begin on Jan. 24.
