New Jersey: The future of online poker in the hands of Governor Christie
The meeting of the State of New Jersey take on Tuesday the decision of allowing online gambling, including poker through the law A2570. Indeed, the majority of the members of the chamber, that is to say 63 votes against 11 with two abstentions, gave its approval to confirm the validation of the bill of November 2010. The next step but not the least is now the appreciation of Governor Christie who has 45 days to say whether he is for or against the decision of the meeting. If he does not use his veto, the law will be applicable in this American State from July of this year 2011. This probable pattern means that players in New Jersey will have to limit play among them, far away from foreign fans.
A priori, the validation of this bill have as objective to lend a hand to the State economy, especially that of Atlantic City who suffers the most. Because the industry of bet and gambling are in trouble if we speak only about the last seven years when finances are low. In return, the validation of this Act A2570 by the State of New Jersey will be a direct consequence, the desertion of online poker rooms as it is already the case in Washington state. However, as the practice of online poker in the United States is still unclear, this establishment of this bill throughout the territory will take quite some time.
