Poker world : Many surprises and changes occurred in 2010
Five major trends have marked the poker world during the year 2010 which will end soon: a distinction of young players, the confirmation of professionals, women's performance, legislation still unstable and marketing that sometimes give another side of this game. Young players made talk about them during this year 2010, if we refer to the results since the beginning of the year until last month like the youngest winner ever known by the Caribbean Poker Adventure, Harrison Gimbel, aged only of 19 years or the coronation of Jonathan Dumahel, aged 22 at the final table of the WSOP Main Event where six finalists of the nine players have more than 25 years. Nevertheless, the year 2010 was also the year of accustomed players to big events such of poker as Phil Ivey, Michael Mizrachi, Antonio Esfandiari, Phil Laak, Gus Hansen or the player of over fifty years Roger Hairabedian who marked in his way the world circuit.
The year 2010 is also considered as the year of women poker players during which some of them distinguished themselves like Liv Boeree, the winner of the EPT San Remo in front of 1,240 players and the good results of Vanessa Rousso with more than $ 600 000 earnings or Vanessa Selbst's victory in the final of the Partouche Poker Tour. But some shortcomings also marked the year 2010 with the enactment of legislation of online gaming and poker in particular that a lot of countries are still searching for its proper functioning. Similarly, the global image of poker for 2010 was not great, it was even overshadowed by bad communication and marketing, even if considerable resources were injected in these communications.
