WPT Marrakech: A low turnout compared to last year
Without doubt, players have a bit snubbed this second edition of the World Poker Tour Marrakesh (WPT). If last year's tournament attracted 416 competitors, the competition that took place at the casino Es Saadi met only 222 poker enthusiasts after a very low enrollment of 85 players on Day 1B. Despite this low number of participants, the public witnessed an unprecedented show during its first three days of competition because the field was filled with notable players. Most of major players have already packed up on Day 1B like Ludovic Lacay, Arnaud Mattern, Liz Lieu and David Benyamine while David Kitai, Roger Hairabedian, Valentin Messina, Petre Ionescu and Julien Leonard were able to resist and were in good position for the following of the tournament on Day 2.
However, it will be more difficult to enter the final day of the WPT Marrakesh. So they had to leave the tournament during the second day. The Day 2 has seen the participation of 82 competitors in the race for the title to be awarded with a first prize of 254,745 and the WPT bracelet. The second best player in the day 1A, Nicolas Levi and Bruno Lopes aka Kool Shen were eliminated while the German representative who is Dominik Nitsche (2nd) and Sebastian Homann chipleader were propelled into leading the tournament with a stack exceeding 1,000,000 chips. The 9 survivors will meet after that for the final day.
