EPT Vienna: Victory of Michael Eiler in the final
The stage of the European Poker Tour (EPT) held at Kursalon casino Vienna from October 26 to 31 was marked by a great success. Indeed, the total field for the Main Event reached 578 participants, which allowed organizers to amass a prize pool of 3 million letting the winner to go back home with a bonus of 700,000. The final table of the competition faced illustrious poker players like Daniel Negreanu and Bruno Launais. Although the public expected a big performance of these two players, they failed to win, they even left the game early. Indeed, in search of a victory in EPT tournament, Bruno Launais had to leave the part at the 8th place while the Canadian Negreanu who started the final day as chip leader finished in 4th place ahead of Italy's Luca Cainelli (5th) and two Germans Andreas Wiese (6th) and Matthias Lotze (7th). Among the French players that have finished in the money are Jacques Zaicik (21th), Pierre Elie (30th) and Anthony Roux (58th).
The Greek Konstantinos Nanos was the last victim of the table before the start of the final heads'up that confronted Martin Hruby and Michael Eiler. Hruby was well positioned to seize the throne but to the surprise of spectators came to the meeting, the young German of 20 years, Michael Eiler, won the title and the first prize. Note that this winner hasn't no yet register any triumph in live tournaments before. Known by the nickname "mae9690", he instead made some achievements in online poker tournaments. For his performance, Hruby was granted a reward of 470,000 and an EPT title.
