APAT English Amateur Poker Championships: Tod Wood champion
The G Casino in Luton hosted last weekend the tournament Amateur Poker Association & Tour English Amateur Championships (APAT). 176 poker enthusiasts and fans invaded the casino in order to acquire a share of the prize pool of £ 13,200. After the first day of competition, itlasted only 24 survivors, three of them are previous champions of the APAT National. The second day of competition took place very quickly and Gary Haselgrove, Joe Legge, Ian Burnett, Brett Pinder, Paul Petch, Colin McCarthy, Phillip Mildon, James Edwards, Michael Martin and Tod Wood were the remaining players who reached the final table.
With 412,000 chips, Tod Wood reached a very advantageous position to win the title. Hand after hand, the most unlucky had to leave the gaming table. It was Brett Pinder who was eliminated first. It must be said that Tod Wood did a lot of victims during this final day of the APAT and accessed without too much difficulty in the final duel of this poker tournament that finally oppose him to Ian Burnett. Wood ended up by winning the title face to the player from Haworth who lost and placed in the rank of the runner up with the second prize of £ 2,100. This beautiful triumph of Wood earned him a handsome fortune of £ 3,300 and an opportunity to be part of pros of the game by winning a seat at the Main Event of the tournament Grosvenor United Kingdom Poker Tour (GUKPT). The next meeting of poker enthusiasts for such event will be held at G Casino in Coventry.
