Irish Open 2011: Another edition for next spring
Decades passed but the Irish Open, the oldest European poker tournament continues its merry way. Thus, it announced its program for next year 2011. For this new edition which will take place in the Irish capital, another success is twaited both in the organizational side and on the number of participants. Organized since 1981 by the late Terry Rogers, this poker tournament among the oldest in the world has never ceased to amaze the audience. Thus, this new version of the Irish Open of April 22 to 25 2011 which will be hosted by the City of Dublin, at the Burlington Hotel, the 3,500 buy-in event will once again have a structure worthy of a major international competition with extra stack gradually rising from 10,000 to 20,000 chips and the participation of some famous poker players.
Similarly, and again, the 100,000 Sole Survivor tournament will be played during which online qualified players that will stand long enough will be entitled of 100,000 with his own potential earnings. Online satellites qualifiers will begin at the end of October 2010. To recap, the previous edition of last year saw record participation of 708 players from around the world. The title was snatched by James Mitchell face to a field composed of familiar names like Dan Harrington, Sandra Naujoks, Kara Scott, Fabrice Soulier, Neil Channing, Brian Townsend or the ubiquitous player Doyle Brunson. The defending champion ran away with first prize of 600,000.
