GUKPT 2010: Triumph of Paul Foltyn
The Main Event of £ 1,070 buy-in of the tournament Grosvenor United Kingdom Poker Tour (GUKPT) in Brighton closed with the victory of Paul Foltyn alias "Badpap, a poker pro from Doncaster, in South Yorkshire. He played very well his final table against other players like Jose Azoriin, Paul Romain, Mark James, John Eames, Damian Evans, Chaing Jenyue, Manuel Palanca, Michalis Michael, and Lee Taylor. Note that 160 participants were registered to compete for the title of the event during the three days of competition. However, the hero of the day did an excellent course in winning the trophy and the reward of 46,400 pounds or the equivalent of $ 73,968.
Foltyn is a professional player who accumulated many great feats on the Internet. Currently, he has $ 2,488,887 in winnings in online tournaments and this latest triumph rounded his live tournament earnings to $ 679,767. In ousting Jose Azoriin during the final heads'up, Foltyn just completed a double in the GUKPT tour as he also won the Main Event Grand Final 2008. In the 2009 edition, Foltyn failed to defend his title because he was simply part of the winning players. It must be said that luck also accompanied him this year because after winning the $ 1.500 event at No-Limit Hold'em Shootout of the World Series of Poker (WSOP) in Las Vegas 2010, he participated in his first final table at the $ 5,000 No-Limit Hold'em tournament of the WSOP. The next appointment of the GUKPT is set in Blackpool, in November.
