Denmark : Online poker will accept international currency once legalized
The bill about online gambling and poker in Denmark will not be published as scheduled by the Danish Government on January 1st, 2011. Because of the break for the notification vis-à-vis the European Commission to the Government of that country which would end on October 11th of this year, therefore, the analyze of the bill will only run after that date. Furthermore, the Danish government who administer until here only one monopolized license for half a century has a lot of work to do especially about the legal clause to consider, which is downright impossible to finish before Christmas 2010. Richardt Funch, head of Ladbrokes Nordic in Denmark even talked about the technical requirements that are still unknown but should be controlled. So in his opinion, this bill won't be ready before the month of March or April 2011.
On another side, operators of online poker will be very happy to learn that the Danish government has opted for an international currency for the market of online gambling once the law applied next year. Thus, operators will be able to maintain their overall currency, which means rapid development of the system and a boon to the Danish consumer, a clear distinction with that of Italy and France. Richardt Funch, head of Ladbrokes Nordic in Denmark has nevertheless stated that the licenses will not be approved until March or April 2011 at the earliest.
