EPT London Day 1: 146 survivors for the Day 2 of the Main Event
There were 339 players registered at the Hilton Metropole Hotel, in London yesterday to attend the first Day 1 of the £ 5,250 buy-in Main Event of the European Poker Tour (EPT) London. After this first day of competition, it remained only 146 survivors to begin the day 2. A huge elimination was then observed during the competition and countless great players present in the starting field had to leave the game as Lex Veldhuis, Carlos Mortensen, Vanessa Selbst, Sorel Mizzi, Jeff Madsen, Greg Mueller and Faraz Jaka. But other notable players still managed to stay in the competition like Greg Raymer, Tom Marchese, Jake Cody, Arnaud Mattern, Shannon Shorr, Alex Kravchenko, John Juanda, Ivan Demidov and Jim Collopy.
The chip leader of the day is Soheb Porbandarwala, holder of a stack of 218,600 chips. He is the only player to have accumulated more than 200,000 chips in that game. Konstantin Bücherl is in second position with 187,900 chips in hand. The French Thomas Bichon also accomplished a great feat by being at the third position with 185,000 chips in his possession. However, these three leaders of the party are not immune to a bad luck if we consider the other talented competitors still in the race for the title of this stage of EPT. The second day 1 begins on Thursday and an influx of poker players is expected as the inveterate champion of last year Aaron Gustavson and Jason Mercier who have yet played the final of a side event during the first day of competition.
