Sydney Poker Championships 2010 : Very successful departure of the Main Event
The main event of the Sydney Poker Championships 2010 tournament currently taking place at Star City casino in Sydney started yesterday. If twelve months ago, organizers estimated to gather a field of 324 participants for this event, this turnout could reach 400 participants according to the influx of players for the Day 1 of the competition. In fact, 149 players registered to attend the first day of competition at the Main Event of the meeting and many famous poker players were there like Martin Corner, Emmanuel Seat, Billy Argyros, Andrew Hinrichsen, Tom Rafferty, the champion of the High Roller Daniel Neilson but Aaron Benton. After 10 hours of play, none of them could be among the 50 survivors who will be able to attend the second day of competition.
The star of the day was Joel Dodds. He managed to amass a stack of 150,400 chips, the largest stack of the day. However, he was closely followed by strong opponents such as Andre Dowling (127.000), Scott Smith (126.900), Matthew Pongrass (124.800) and Sam Khouiss (101.600). Among the famous players who managed to stay in the race but with a smaller stack are Tserdanis Terry, Ricky Kroesen and Tony Hachem. The Day 1B of the Sydney Poker Championships 2010 will start with a field estimated to reach the number of 200 participants. And until the crowning of new champions of the tournament, the poker community will still enjoy moments of intense poker tournament to follow in Australia ground.
