EPT Vilamoura: Toby Lewis conquered Portugal
The final day of the European Poker Tour Vilamoura (EPT) was held last Thursday, September 2nd. This is the biggest poker festival held under the sky of Portugal. The local poker community relied on the talent of their unique native representative on the final table, Sergio Coutinho. Unfortunately, he failed to reach the victory. He was the first to be eliminated from the game table and received the eighth prize money of 37,248. The former champion of the EPT Monte Carlo, Rob Hollink, Frederik Jensen and the famous former footballer Teddy Sheringham have also been excluded from the top of the list and placed respectively at the 7th, 6th and 5th place. Sheringham has therefore done a very good performance in the world of poker while cashing the handsome sum of 93 121, twice what he received at the World Series of Poker Europe.
Holder of the second largest stack at the beginning of the competition, Sam Trickett also missed the title by finishing in the 4th place after showing an exceptional play throughout the tournament and an exemplary behavior in the final. An attitude that greatly affected the tournament director Thomas Kremser. His gain was 139,681. The third place rewarded of a premium of 186,240 was attributed to Jason Lee. He then left to the Swede Martin Jacobson and Columbia Toby Lewis the chance to win the title of the event. As the chip leader at the beginning of the final day of the EPT Vilamoura, Lewis lost his edge a bit but after 20 minutes, he regained the lead and despite some difficulties, he eventually won the victory and the great reward of 467,836. The Swede finished the poker tournament with the second prize of 297,985.
