World Poker Legends: 462 players at the Main Event
A priori, the objective has been reached for this 9th edition of the World Poker Tour Legends (WPT). By setting at the start to gather about 500 participants for the main event, the organizers are not very far from their goal by recording a field of 462 competitors. This represents an increase of 66% compared to last year's edition marked by the presence of 279 players. The reduction of the buy-in certainly explains the huge success but also without forgetting that this is a very popular tournament. The prize pool has however knew a slight decrease of 18%. In total, 45 players will receive trophies and the future champion will be awarded with a whopping $ 750,000. About 300 competitors, including 16 former champions of the WPT, started the second Day 1B, among them Kathy Liebert, now in her 100th participating in the WPT. This is a real performance, unfortunately, she was eliminated at the end of the day.
Among the favorites who distinguished themselves during the day's competition by finishing in the Top 50 are Phil Hellmuth who has even offered the luxury of a three-hour dinner break and chat with his fans. We should also mention JJ Liu, Jeff Madsen, Mark Johnson, Tom Marchese, Allen Cunningham, Soi Nguyen, Jonathan Aguiar, Barry Greenstein and Joe Sebok. The chip leader of the moment is Manuel Reyes with 205,350 chips in hand. He is followed by Vinny Vinh with 180,000 chips. The list of players in the Top 10 is composed of Raymond Dolan (165,500), Justin Young (138,950), Max Casal (138,500), Micah Raskin (135,000), Philip Stark (132,575), Ari Gooth (129,000), Ken Michelman (125,200) and C. Zadfar (125,000). The battle is ongoing at Bicycle Casino in Los Angeles and this poker tournament will know its winner next Wednesday.
