Poker Hall of Fame 2010: Nomination of 181 players
Since August 18th, 2010, a total of 181 poker players have received confirmation of their application to compete in the Poker Hall of Fame 2010 edition. In early September, the list composed of names of 10 players most-voted by the public will be in the hands of committee members who will have the onerous task of studying each case of elected candidates. The 16 board members assisted by a media poker group will have the last privilege to choose the player to enthrone at the Poker Hall of Fame 2010 and designate another player to be selected automatically for the next year's vote. A change has occurred this year, the two players garnering the most votes need at least 50% of the vote to integrate the Poker Hall of Fame. During the previous year, only Mike Sexton, the last winner, garnered 75% of votes required to be sacred.
Phil Ivey, Tom McEvoy, Daniel Negreanu, Erik Seidel, Dan Harrington, Scotty Nguyen, Men "The Master" Nguyen and Barry Greenstein are among the main contenders of this year and who were nominated last year. To make his entry at the Poker Hall of Fame, the player designated who will receive the prize during the final of the WSOP Main Event 2010 in November at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, must fulfill certain conditions. Among which, having already rubbed shoulders with top players, have participated in high stake tournaments, have always played well, and enjoy a reputation among his peers, should have some longevity in their careers or have contributed to the growth and success of poker for those who are not players.
