Germany: A new regulation of online games expected for 2012
Online games and poker on internet are the focus of discussions of lawmakers from different countries since a few times because of the amount of money flowing through it. The market is the basis of everything in this case and those of major European countries are closely contested by main operators. That of Germany with a population of 82 million people do not do an exception as this country has also a large number of poker players, online casino and sports betting enthusiasts. But the legislative side of online gambling is still a problem in the country of Goethe. Indeed, the country banned online gambling in its 16 states since January 2008 across the Interstate Gambling Treaty. This measure caused great controversy when it was adopted and endless discussions occurred.
But in reality, there is a malfunction, a kind of double standard. The existence of "privileged" that operate online without being harassed, who transgress the law : they either have their headquarters in tax havens such as Malta, Gibraltar, Isle of Man or some of them benefit to their advantage taken in early 90s and flout the law. In the country, some states such as Schleswig-Holstein want to rid of this treaty of 2008 and plan to liberalize online games from 2012. But by that time, the debate is still heated between the proponents and opponents of such a policy of legalization of online poker and online gaming in general.
