European Poker Masters of Bulgaria: The coronation for the German Manig Löser
Bulgaria has been the guest of honor of a poker event which brought together several superstars. Indeed, 260 poker fans joined the Crystal Crown Casino in Sunny Beach to participate in the 1,100 buy-in Main Event of the season 2 of the European Masters of Poker tournament. This broad field has been reduced to nine competitors during the final day, held last weekend. Among these 9 finalists were the two Israelis Joseph Shai and Vahnun Shalgi, the Romanian George Draghici, local players Aleksander Raykov, Vasil Medarov and Yavor Tutev, the Finn Antti Takala and Timo Roivainen and the Swede Erik Skarpie.
It is obvious that Bulgarian spectators were hoping the victory of one of their compatriots, but it was the German Manig Löser who took the title. He faced the Israeli Shai Vahnun during the final duel. By demonstrating his great skill and very high style of play, he ousted Vahnun after 35 minutes of play only. A priori, his coronation was more than deserved. With this magnificent performance, the German pocketed an excellent reward of 49,080 and is now in the same ranks as previous champions of the European Masters of Poker including Giovanni Suetra, Vladimir Mefodichev, Maciej Lipny and Timothy Timotheou. Shai Vahnun who also demonstrated a good level of play had to be consoled with a prize of 35,000. Fans of this tour will meet at the Grand Casino Barcelona in Spain on September 23rd to 26th, 2010 for the next step.
