WPT Bellagio Cup IV: The coronation for Moritz Kranich
On the sidelines of the World Series of Poker (WSOP) in Las Vegas, the World Poker Tour (WPT) Bellagio Cup IV recorded a tremendous success with a field of 353 participants. It was a very exciting tournament because many big stars of poker unlucky at the WSOP Main Event attended the event. On July 15th, the finalists of the WPT Bellagio who were Kranich Moritz, Justin Smith, Phil Ivey, Robert Akery and Eric Afriat started the final table to fight for the title and the price of this prestigious tournament. Any French players were part of this final table and the hope of Francophone spectators was thus on the Canadian Eric Afriat. Unfortunately, he was the first to leave the table and won the 6th prize of $ 118,950.
After a fierce battle, there were only three players whose the German Moritz Kranich, Justin Smith and the big poker star Phil Ivey. Despite his talent recognized by the entire poker community, he wasn't able to win the title and resigned to the third place with a premium of $ 363,350. The final head's up was played between Kranich and Smith. The German gained a large advantage because he completely dominated the final table with his great skills and his long experience in major tournaments. Indeed, he has already been crowned champion of the EPT in Deauville in 2009. Kranich is the new champion of the WPT Bellagio and collected a reward of $ 875,150. As runner up, Smith earned an excellent price of $ 594,755 while John Caridad (4th) and Robert Akery (5th) each received $ 237,902 and $ 169,930 for their performance.
