French online games : More than 1.2 million account created in one month
As expected, the liberalization of online games in France accompanied by a return to legality for some sites was painless and presented more than satisfactory one month after. The statistics speak for themselves : 1.2 million active accounts were recorded and the World Cup is something which boost this dynamism. A real catalyst for this game! The police of sports betting and online poker namely the Regulatory Authority of online games or ARJEL talk about a statistic of more than 9 million bets have been recorded with a turnover of 83 million Euro. This is the double of what La Française des Jeux (FDJ) realized in the year 2009. The end of the monopoly or opening last month was the result of pressure from Brussels since 2005. Sports betting and games including online poker now take a leadership role.
More than 40 sites have applied for a license from the ARJEL, and 15 operators were able to benefit it. The French state ended a monopoly established by an edict of François 1er for 471 years. Now, traditional operators, the FDJ and PMU, have the company of several operators to share customers, like pros of online gambling in Europe for years as BetClick, Bwin, EurosportBet .... Confident, the two heavyweights are. For the PMU, the number of new members quadrupled over the first week while for FDJ, its Director Christophe Blanchard, remains optimistic with a figure of 145 million Euro placed on the web and on its kiosks and distributor.
