South Korea : A network of online poker room scammers dismantled
Many online poker players have been victims of fraud from hackers from South Korea. The robbers led by two men, Yu 30 years old and Kim aged of 29 years who used high-tech tools to access over 700 online poker rooms. It was with the software called Netbot Attacker with which the pirates introduced a virus into various machines of cybercafe, letting them to see their opponents hand in poker. The criminals were using 11,000 PCs robot to scam their victims. With this scam, they managed to extort more than 55 million Won player payouts, an amount equivalent to $ 45,265. They were doing this fraud in virtual poker rooms in China.
Unfortunately for them, the security forces of South Korea have discovered the traffic through the center Cyber Terror Response of this country lies in the Gyeonggi region. Thus, the police arrested 33 members of the mafia network. This kind of software is sold in China but many others can be downloaded. Thus, the rate of online scam has proliferated a lot lately. This type of attack causes a huge loss for online poker players. However, those enrolled in playroom having authorization for European residents can play with confidence because the scammers can't reach them. Furthermore, to limit the potential spread of this scam, the South Korean authorities have urged caution to players especially when they play in public places.
