World Series of Poker 2010 : The year of Gavin Smith
Gavin Smith is known for his eccentric character, his great passion for parties and prop bet. In the event of No-Limit Hold'em Championship of the World Series of Poker (WSOP) Circuit 2006- of $ 10,000 buy-in held at Harrah's Casino New Orleans, he made a crazy bet with Allie Prescott that he would win the tournament. Unfortunately, he lost against Peter Feldman. In recent years, Gavin Smith has recorded huge success but this year he achieved a major feat by winning the mixed hold'em event of $ 2,500 buy-in of the WSOP 2010. This competition saw a field of 570 participants and his magnificent victory allowed him to pocket a gain of $ 268,238. It is his second cash in the WSOP of this year because actually, he finished in the 9th place of no-limit hold'em heads'up of $ 10,000 buy-in during which he collected $ 38,424. This year 2010 is a good period for Smith because in January, he was awarded of a gain of $ 188,743 in the Fallsview Poker Classic tournament held at Casino Fallsview of Ontario.
As part of 14 finalists of tournaments of the WSOP, Gavin Smith has collected a sum of $ 561,182 which is a huge part in his accumulated earnings gain in tournaments worth $ 5,300,000. He picked up his fortune in the World Poker Tour (WPT) circuit. Indeed, Smith is a true pro in this environment. To name just a few of his exploits, he was crowned champion of the Mirage Poker Showdown in 2005 with a prize of $ 1,128,278 and has also finished in the 4th place at the World Poker Open Goldstrike Tour in January 2006. This WSOP bracelet won by Smith will thus further accentuate his reputation as a poker pro.
