Online poker : Open since yesterday throughout France
The very anticipated big day finally arrived in France. A sigh of relief to the countless online French poker players. The formalization of the decree concerning the categories of licensed online gambling is now effective since last Wednesday. By getting back in this authorization, it is the Regulatory Authority of Online Games (ARJEL) who granted seven licenses to seven operators which are Unibet, Bwin, Eurosportbet.fr, Everestpoker, PMU, Sajoo and Winamax followed by Other recently Reel with pokerstars.fr Malta Limited, SAS Electraworks partypoker.fr, and acfpoker.fr, luckyjeux.fr, Iliad Gaming SAS chilipoker.fr and finally Partouche Gaming France SAS with partouche.fr. A nice range of operators who will contend on the market with two variants of poker. Texas hold'em poker first, a variant in which players have two private closed cards and 5 hole cards open on the board. Then, Omaha 4 with which lovers of the game have respectively 4 hole cards and 5 cards open.
But that's not all. Having a license also means obligations to players, poker operators are exempt. Thus, for example, they must develop a software tool to deal with agreements between players which affect the game and the whole system. Or, to guard against all forms of fraud, which leads up to the bankruptcy of the player, the prohibition of games to minors etc. These are just some examples of laws that will be added to those considered classics in that environment. Compulsory identification for the new player in addition to his bank references to finally have the secret code etc. The operator has also to respect various constraints, like the treatment of its affiliated players which is very strict. Despite all these measures, the hundreds of thousands of potential players have not resigned. Also the game is an attractive financial windfall for the public authority as to the directly concerned operators.
