WSOP Event # 16: A bracelet for Carter Phillips
After a superb victory at the European Poker Tour (EPT) in Barcelona, the young prodigy of poker Carter Phillips has won his first bracelet at the World Series of Poker (WSOP). Indeed, this young 21 years old passionate of poker has won the title of the No Limit Hold'em / Six Handed $ tournament of $ 1,500 buy-in. This Event # 16 of the WSOP has registered a huge field of 1,663 participants composed of many famous young players. This championship was a meeting point for young talent in the world of poker because the average age of competitors was 22.8 years. Thus, the final table had seen the facing of eight young poker players most of whom were Americans.
The fighting was fierce but as the same way that he captured the title of EPT Barcelona, Phillips was once again the best player during this tournament until the final head's up face to Samuel Gerber, before being crowned champion of the event. With this achievement, he enters the big league and pocketed the tidy reward of $ 482,774 and one of the famous jewels of the WSOP. The Swiss player had for his part settled for the place of runner up with the reward of $ 298,726. Note that this is also the first participation of the young champion in this world poker championship. This Event # 16 had awarded the best 162 players including some French young talent like Rui Cao (63rd), Francis Balmigère (118th) and Marc Davis (159th).
