ARJEL: Tracking down of illegal sites and operators as priority
Since its official launch by the French Minister François Baroin, the Autorité de régulation des jeux en ligne (French Regulatory Authority of online games or ARJEL) had shown more and more threatening to sites of poker and sports betting which operate illegally on the French soil. The entity responsible of ensuring the regulation of the French market at the moment of the big leap into the path of liberalization and the legalization of gambling industry, does not beat around the bush. Its very first tasks would be to purify the market. Through the Department of budget, the ARJEL proclaims loudly that it is time to put order into what has become a field of real networks which may give rise to money laundering and conducive to corruption. It is clear that the presence of some leading sites, for the most the biggest of the market of online sports betting operating illegally in France for many years are known by the public.
Despite this situation contrasts with the speech given by the officials, these operators live a quiet life without being worried at least for the moment. Many reputable online casinos are involved in this case. To believe the latest statements by date, the ARJEL displays its determination to tackle the underlying problem with the help of Justice intends to crack down against illegal sites of any kind. Nevertheless, there is already a certainty : most operators will not yet have the privilege of proposing offers of sports betting at the next tournament at Roland Garros failing to obtain approval in time.
