WPT Barcelona Day 1A: Great success for French players
Before starting a trip to Las Vegas as part of the World Series of Poker, poker enthusiasts gave each other a last call on the European continent to play at the World Poker Tour (WPT) in Barcelona, a unique tournament that began since last Wednesday. 134 participants were registered during the Day 1A of the competition and the field includes a heavy French delegation. At the end of the day, there were only 50 competitors in the race and 10 of them are players from France. The Tricolour players has registered a great result at this early date because two of them have managed to appear in the top 10. It is Frederic Brunet and Antoine Saout, classified respectively in the 6th and 8th places. These two poker pros have already demonstrated their know-how during other events and their achievements during the WPT Spanish Championship were not due to chance.
Other poker enthusiasts of the Hexagon had also shined during this Day 1A as Lawrence Leclerc at the 18th position, Olivier Daeninckx at the 19th place or Tristan Clémençon at the 22th place. But the opening day also saw a strong performance from the local players as the chip leader and the second winner of the day are all of Spanish nationality. Indeed, with a stake of 107,300 chips, Roberto Santiago Garcia moved up leading the way while his compatriot Ioan Mihalache is second with a stack of 98,700 chips. The results of the Day 1B also shown that this step of WPT Barcelona 2010 has received a better success compared to that of last year.
