UKIPT : The coronation of Couldridge
On the sidelines of the World Poker Tour in Paris, one of the biggest British festivals of poker was also held at Dusk Till Dawn Poker Club in Nottingham. Thus, the United Kingdom and Ireland Poker Tour (UKIPT) Nottingham has registered an impressive field of 650 participants during the £ 5,250 Main Event. The many Irish and British fans of poker clashed on the tables of No-Limit Hold'em and it must be said that the tournament was sensational. On the eve of the final day, the Londoner Owen Robinson was leading. Despite his advantage, he failed to get the victory because the owner of the fourth largest carpet had been much louder and more fortunate than him. Indeed, Andrew Couldridge, a 44 years old Londoner passionate of poker has demonstrated a unique style of play that helped him to propel himself at the final head's up against Oliver Schaffmann.
During the duel, Schaffmann really imposed his game on the first two hands but in the third round, he was eliminated by surprise by Couldridge. Andrew Couldridge is the great champion of the UKIPT Nottingham. For the occasion, he pocketed the winner's bonus worth £ 80,000 plus a place for the season's final of the UKIPT and a buy-in for the EPT London. This was the first participation of this great champion in the UKIPT and despite a rough trip, his talent and perseverance have led to this victory. As runner-up, Schaffmann won £ 46,700. The next edition of the UKIPT will be held at Gleneagles Hotel in Killarney, Ireland.
