The World Series of Poker (WSOP) will begin soon and the many poker players who wish to participate to this event are already preparing to join the magnificent Rio Casino in Las Vegas. This year's WSOP is also particular because it will see again the relaunch of the famous Tournament of Champions (TOC). This is a special competition because it will gather on the gaming tables poker players who have received the highest number of WSOP bracelets. Since the launch of the world championship of poker, many players have received many WSOP bracelets however the field for this TOC is limited to 27 participants. Thus, the organizers have allowed the public to choose the 20 players they consider as the best placed to take part in this elite competition.
The votes have already started and the verdict will be known after June 15th. Already, the talented Phil Ivey is the head of the qualifiers. Apparently, he has touched the heart of many members of the poker community as he is the player who earned the greatest number of votes so far. This admiration of the public to Ivey is quite normal because the man has made unprecedented achievements in previous WSOP events. He currently holds seven bracelets and was ranked 36 times in the money. His high performance at the WSOP 2009 during which he finished in seventh place in front of many poker enthusiasts is also remarkable. And even though several well-known players are in the list of candidates, the coronation of Phil Ivey is virtually guaranteed.
