World Series of Poker : A stage on the African continent
The World Series of Poker (WSOP) have always been a real success since its launch and many people make long journeys to attend it. This was the case of Raymond Rahme who has completed a major feat at the Main Event of the WSOP 2007. He finished in third place and went home in South Africa without the bracelet or the title but with the tidy sum of three million dollars. This journey of Rahme proves the popularity of poker. Soon, the lovers of the game will be filled because the WSOP will do an exceptional stopover in South Africa, specifically in the Emerald Casino Resort, in the south of Johannesburg from 24th to 31st October 2010. The organizers of this magnificent tournament await the arrival of 500 aces of poker to play with the Main Event of No-Limit Hold'em variant. To participate, competitors must pay the buy-in of 5,000. From this main event, they will have 40,000 chips for a playing time of 60 minutes.
The stopover of the WSOP in Africa provides a great opportunity for African followers of the game because they can rub shoulders with the most famous professionals of the moment. Those who do not have the chance to access the Main Event will sit in Pot-Limit Omaha Rebuy 1,100 + 300 buy-in. The African continent has already received great poker tournaments like the World Poker Tour Marrakech 2009, the Sun City Million Dollar Poker Tournament in South Africa in September 2008 and most recently the WSOP South Africa 2010.
