EPT Awards 2010 : Maxim Lykov sacred Player of the Year
The young Russian player Maxim Lykov, winner of the European Poker Tour in Kiev at the beginning of the season 6 of the EPT has just been crowned Player of the Year during the EPT Gala in Monte Carlo. The ceremony was organized by Vicky Coren and the founder of the EPT, John Duthie, and took place in the elegant Club Karement, known as "Le Karé" to regulars. At the beginning of the final table of EPT Monaco, Lykov was already in a good position to be chosen as player of the year prior to the grand final. In addition to Kiev, he reached the paid places in two side events but finished 13th at the EPT Snowfest.
His performance at the head's up of the Side Event of Monte Carlo earned him 19 extra points giving him a comfortable lead over his opponents. "It's great. I worked very hard to win this title. Et us recall that the "Choice Award" (players choice) had sacred the winner of the EPT Berlin, Kevin Mac Phee, who then confessed that he was very proud of his coronation in an European Tour even if he has an American citizenship. He said he met many friends in all places and feel at home everywhere in the world now.
