iPhone applications related to games: Australia launch a crusade against them
Since a very long time, Australia had always taken a strong stance on games that may present a risk of addiction and retains many options for its residents. A member of the Parliament, Nick Xenophon seeks to ensure that future generations should not be exposed to game and gambling at a young age. Many applications that mimic the operation of slot machines and poker room can be downloaded free and available to all gamblers in Australia. Some of these applications are recommended for 12 years and over, while others offer no suggestions minimum age. Xenophon think poker applications for iPhone that allow children to play even for play money, should be banned.
Xenophon believes that these applications can give children a first experience that could harm them. "We already have a large gambling problem in this country and there is no doubt that this will be a catalyst for problem gambling," said Xenophon. "Children can become experts on a poker machine before they are legally allowed to set eyes on a real machine." Xenophon is afraid that the use of these applications gives a false impression that poker machines can be a source of money or income. Prohibit applications is almost impossible in Australia. However, Xenophon is tenacious and said he would go on a crusade to conceive a law that would transform as illegal such applications and games to children.
