Liberalisation of online games: Marc Simoncini and Stephane Courbit in the race
The monopoly held by la Française des Jeux, PMU and casinos will be part of the past from now. The competition is now open. By 299 votes against 223, Parliament recently passed the law in favor of liberalization of online games. The race is on for the many contenders for the licenses to be issued by the Regulatory Authority of online games (ARJEL) which is being set up actually. It expects an influx of new investors in the world of poker, horse racing and online sports betting. These include for example two great figures among the operators in the area: the founder of Manga Gaming, Stephane Courbit, and the owner of Meetic, Marc Simoncini. If the first has grow its investment, the latter has acquired a poker site that he co-owns with the famous singer and poker player Patrick Bruel. These two stars are sure to stand out in this vast market face to this new context.
The best opportunities to show are not uncommon for future French competitors because many major sporting events are looming on the horizon, namely the nearest to the farthest of this year are the tournament of Roland Garros in May, the World Football in South Africa in June and the Tour de France in July. Every operators and players just hope that the hostilities of the politicians will not undermine the implementation of the new law, the government is already strained to be on time in achieving this liberalization.
