Robbery and hold-up: The new plague of the world of gambling
The world of gambling in particular that of poker is catching more and more the greed of robbers, and that, because of large sums of money that circulates. Robbers are hitting the jackpot without facing draconian security at banks or other institutions. The attack at the European Poker Tour in Berlin during which four gunmen burst into the tournament is far from being an isolated case. 15 days after the German depredation, now the Grand Casino Basel is the subject of a similar robbery. Sunday around 4 a.m, two cars with French number plates carrying ten armed men arrived in the parking of the casino. At this moment, more than 600 people are still in the gaming room. The bandits then entered the casino lobby and threatening the players present with their weapons.
From there, the other gang members have tried to open the safe of the casino, but as that failed, they decided to cast their eye on the cashier and the pockets of players. After the attack they fled to the French border. The robbery would have let the thieves win hundreds of thousands of Swiss francs. Also during this day Sunday, but on the other side of the Atlantic, men armed with Kalashnikov have stripped 24 players in a private poker game. The thugs got away with money, wallets and mobile phones. And this type of attack in private party and casino jackpot has also already been noted several times in previous years.
