WPT Hollywood Poker Open : « El Matador » won his third title
A field of 143 players is not really a number worthy of a World Poker Tour. We can say that many poker players had shunned the 2010 edition of the WPT Hollywood Poker Open. The buy-in of $ 10,000 would have attracted sharks of green tables. However, pros like Gavin Smith, Greg Mueller, and Erick Lindgren made the trip. Despite the low turnout, the prize pool has reached the colossal sum of $ 1,340,928 and the $ 393,820 were pocketed by the Spaniard Carlos Mortensen, the new champion. It was the third time that Mortensen won a title of the World Poker Tour and then joined Gus Hansen in terms of number of victory in WPT. Mortensen won his first title at the Festa al Lago in 2004. He is also the only player in the world to have done the doublet WSOP and WPT in a year.
Mortensen began the final table with the status of chip leader, and then he dismissed four pros online. Even if the tournament has seen a low turnout, Mortensen has ensured that this first WPT in the Midwest has been a success. He became the most decorated player in the history of the WPT and in the process; he also increased his career earnings to over $ 9.6 million. Carlos Mortensen confirms that he is among the best European players. With this title, he also outperforms Daniel Negreanu who has until now a total of $ 5,750,000 gain in WPT tournament.
