Harry Kakavas: Summoned to pay one million dollars for a casino in Bahamas
Harry Kakav made his name alone on becoming one of the biggest losers in casino game of all time. This high stakes player has lost another trial and must pay one million dollars to one casino in Bahamas. During the month of November 2006, Mr. Kakav received one million dollars of credit when he visited the baccarat tables of Casino Paradise Island during his honeymoon. He lost all the money in a flash. The casino has sued before the Supreme Court of Victoria to recover the money plus the interest. For his defense Mr. Kakav argued that the casino knew or should have known he suffered from psychiatric problem about gambling and had "the advantage without consciousness of his inability to resist the envy to play." But today, the Judge Jennifer Davies found that the defense had no merit.
And it is not the first time that this real estate developer is the subject of such scrambles because of his colossal losses. During the years 2005 and 2006, he had lost more than $30 millions in playing in Crown casino of Melbourne. And apparently, his efforts to bring back his losses by blaming the casino were broken when the Victorian Supreme Court concluded that the casino has not abused Kakav. The judge noted that even if the casino has offer these important credits, the casino has is any way altered his judgment on responsible gambling.
