World Series of Poker 2010: Perhaps a last stopover in Rio!
The World Series of Poker 2010 (WSOP) are planned to be held in Rio Hotel and Casino this summer. However, the rumor circulates since the group Harrah's, organizer of the tournament, bought the debt of Hollywood Planet that the next edition of the tournament will take place in Hollywood Planet located on the central boulevard of the Strip. Victim of a bankrupt caused by the 2009 economic crisis, Hollywood Planet with its 860 million dollars debt becomes the property of Harrah's Entertainment which is already the owner of many establishments and casinos like the Rio hotels, Paris, Bally's, Flamingo and the Imperial palace. Thanks to this new property which is Hollywood Planet, the Harrah's Group reigns on the famous Strip Boulevard.
But Hollywood Planet would need to be reinvigorated and a great event as the World Series of Poker would be the welcome in order to start again the activity of this casino and to bring into service the new renovated rooms one year ago. Besides, the site of Hollywood Planet is very favorable to receive this big tournament. The WSOP was born in Binions hotel before its transfer in Rio in 2005 and Rio became the reception centre of the WSOP even if its qualification as a host is not largely creditable. Indeed, the 2009 edition was not satisfying players because the organization represented faults leaving of hundreds of players out of the list of inscriptions for the Day 1D of the Main Event. Nevertheless, which is certain for the moment is that the WSOP 2010 from May the 27th to July the 17th will be still held in Rio.
