According to a study published by the French institute CSA concerning the various practices in the gambling, the year which has just finished is the year of all the records. This study was carried out in six countries of the European Union. In France, their citizens had played on average €59,1 million each day on games suggested by La Française des Jeux, the Pari Mutuel Urbain (PMU) as well as in the casinos. But the next opening of the sports betting, horse bets and online poker will certainly make increase these numbers. But the phenomenon does not touch only the Hexagon; it gains also the other European countries. On the podium of the countries where there are the most players, we find Poland, Spain and Italy. 80% of the nationals of these three countries played at least once during last three months.

The trio of head is followed by the United Kingdom and France which count 74% and 70% players respectively. The Germans arrive in last position, only 52% of the population is concerned. Concerning the gender, the tendency is the same in all of the European countries; the majority of players are men. The male gent is more addicted with the horse, sporting bets, and the poker. In France, only the scratch games attract women, only 49% of the men are attracted by this type of game. In all the European countries, Internet did not supplant yet the points of sale. 75% to 94% of Europeans prefer to use “traditional” distributors such as tobacco shop or dedicated store.
