Online poker: Microgaming puts a term on datamining for more fair play
The software developer, Microgaming and its network of poker rooms will re-examine his regulation more closely. First of all, the company started with the update of its system of calculation of payment of the rakes in cash game, now it wants to finish with the datamining. This decision touches the whole of the rooms of poker which are affiliated to its software. The datamining is a tool used in online poker rooms which consists in storing the history of hands of the tables observed on the computers of the players. It was conceived like a means of analyzing the strategies of play and the weaknesses of the individual players. But since January the 13th, 2009, Microgaming let appear its desire to finish by limiting the data which can be accessible by datamining.
If the software of analysis of histories of hands of poker is completely legal, some online poker players knew how to turn this tool to their advantages in the detriment of some of their adversaries. But to slow down this practice, the poker rooms affiliated with Microgaming will limit the distribution of the histories of hands. According to Andrew Clucas, responsible of poker at Microgaming, the goal of the company is to lead to a level of play which is playable for everyone. This decision to put a term at the practice of datamining on the network of poker belongs to the strategy of the total network of Microgaming to support the operators to attract and retain players of leisure.
