BetOnSports trial: The verdict pronounced
Last April, the former chairman of the site of online gambling BetOnSports David Carruthers pled guilty on the charges on him and his website of online sports betting. The jury had asked for a punishment of 33 months of prison and the maximum punishment was pronounced Friday. The judge Carol E. Jackson condemned David Carruthers this Friday after his inculpation by the jury for four years. During the judgment, Carruthers showed his regrets for his acts. I understand now that the company is not in agreement with the laws in force in the United States. I realize that I made the worst error of my life. I am sorry for the actions of BetOnSports.
According to the press, the company had collected more than 1 billion dollars only in 2004, we note that 98% of the traffic of his website of online sports betting came from customers established in the United States. Carruthers had been assigned at residence in Saint-Louis since 2006, but he had found the time to make an escapade and to relax in the frame of the Marathon of Saint-Louis. BetOnSports had been quoted on the stock exchange of London and the judge Jackson required a fine of 28.2 million dollars against his company. This trial of this website of online game and his manager restart the debates between the opponents in the adoption of the UIGEA, the American law which prohibits online gambling like casino, poker or sports betting online and lawmakers.
