Mississippi casinos: Decrease of the turnover in November
After having several consecutive difficult months, the incomes of the casinos of the Mississippi improved in October. Some government officials saw in these results a sign of recovery in the sector of the casino. But unfortunately, it was only a mirage, because this improvement lasted only one month. For November, the casinos which have licenses in the State of the Mississippi had carried out only 185.4 million dollars of turnover. According to one recent publication of the Mississippi State Tax Commission, the casinos had registered a relatively tiny fall of income, but sufficiently to cause a certain tension in the casinos. The Mississippi State Tax Commission estimates that for November, the turnover of the gambling establishments was one million dollars inferior to September. In September, they have generated 186.4 dollars million of takings.
According to Al Godfrey, deputy manager of the gambling commission of the States, the cause of the fall is the reduction of the purchasing power. He said that the tendency is maintained, the number of people who visit casinos did not decrease, but the players make more attention to the money that they spend. They do not have the budget of play which they had two years ago. He added. The tendency in all the States was the same in November. Even the two greater destinations of games of chance, Atlantic City and Las Vegas, knew a fall of theirs turnover. As in many casinos in Las Vegas, the casinos of the Mississippi are on standby of a true recovery, they are more optimistic for the years to come.
