This country which welcomes a lot of firms of online poker is at present more and more known for its live tournaments with big scales which begin to appear there like the European Masters of poker which took place at the Casino di Venezia de Vittoriosa. EMOP aims above all to propose an alternative tournament less expensive than the European Poker Tour. For it, organizers fixed a buy-in more accessible. For this Maltese stage which attracted 291 players, buy-in was at 1,650 establishing so 436,500 of prize pool, an offer never seen on the island.
At the end of the tournament, the 95,000 promised to the winner were swiped by the Polish young person Krzysztof Grubka to whom the 12th place was already attributed during the Main Event of the European Master of Poker of Prague. The Swede Joakim Sörensen has to make do with the second place, but he gained at the same time a check of 88,000. The Maltese stage of the EMOP was an enormous success. The chairman and chief executive officer of the Casino di Venezia, Fernando Orlandi did not hide his satisfaction. He considers that besides giving a blow to the Maltese poker, this success is going to engender more visitors and tourists thus a financial windfall for the island. The chairman and chief executive officer (CEO) of the Casino di Venezia also hopes one day to see a stage of the World Poker Tour (WPT) taking place in his luxury hotel.
