Market of online games: Tranchant also opposes to the total opening
The sentence pronounced by the European Court of Justice on Tuesday, September the 8th, 2009 could question the future of this last one to break State monopolies if online games and games of chance are concerned. Indeed, the European Court has just authorized Portugal to prohibit two private operators of online game on its territory. Georges Tranchant, chairs founder of the same name casinos admits to be very satisfied of this decision. He thinks that this decision is going to eliminate any eventuality of recourse to offending companies. Before these companies leaned on the position of the European Commissioner, Charlie McCreevy who was a fervent defender of liberalization of the online games sector.
The president of Tranchant Group announces that he wants to obtain a similar sentence for 14 websites of online game and foreign online poker on the French market. He demands that this prohibition should be effective for several years. He considers that his casinos underwent damages since the appearance of these sites of online game while these last ones are still illegal on the French territory. Eric Woerth, instigator of the bill about the opening of online games which is going to be examined in the National Assembly on October the 7th and the 8th, 2009, also congratulated himself on the sentence of the European Court. The European lotteries association welcomed with enjoyment this decision which they qualify as "big victory for national lotteries"; for the association every state member must be able to decide or not to exclude operators of online game installed abroad.
