EPT of Kiev: The trophy goes to the Russian player Maxim Lykov
After more than eight hours of finale table, it was the Russian player Max Lykov who won the European Poker tour (EPT) of Kiev. Having been chip leader during almost all the majority of the tournament, it was not a surprise. He got at the same time the 330,000 promised to the winner. The stage of Kiev which inaugurates this year the season VI of the European Poker Tour replaces the stage of Moscow because of the new law which forbids tournaments of poker on the Russian territory. 296 poker players from 33 countries were at this big first première of Kiev. On the finale table which was formed by essentially players of poker coming from the ancient countries of the East block, were seen three Russians, a Polonaise, a German, a Dutch, a Byelorussian and a Ukrainian.
One hour after the beginning of this finale, Maxim Lykov and Alexender Dovzhenko had 6.4 millions of the remaining 9 millions chips on the table. The Ukrainian Dovzhenko dominated literally the final table before the break to have dinner and nobody foresaw the victory of the Russian but the turn of events changed in favor of Lykov as soon as players came back. Dovzhenko carried in him hope of Ukraine as showed by thousands of his fans present in the immense gymnasium of Sport Luxury hotel of Kiev. With this victory, he raised by at the same time the colors of the country host. Besides the 330,000 cash, Maxim Lykov also picks received a ticket for big EPT Monte Carlo 2010 finale. But in the meantime, the EPT makes an appointment with us in Barcelona from the 4th till the 9th of September.
