Poker tournament: New rules proposed by TDA adopted
In ten years, we noted a considerable evolution of poker tournaments either it is in games or in tournaments. The industry of poker has beside it several organizations asked to adapt itself to this evolution. Tournament Directors Association (TDA) is one of these organizations. It aims to maintain a maximum flexibility and to homogenize the regulation. In this perspective, a kind of summit dedicated to the regulation of poker was organized. Some modifications were done in the charter of rules; casinos which subscribed in this charter will apply the planned changes. Collectively created by Matt Savage, David Lamb, Linda Johnson and Jan Fisher, the TDA had during its creation as priority the establishment of a first charter of rules for poker tournament. In the United States, the TDA won certain fame beside casinos and gaming rooms in time, these last ones decided to adopt these rules, followed later by online poker room organizing poker live tournaments.
In order to update rules, the TDAs management office organized a summit of two days within the framework of the WSOP of Las Vegas in the presence of casinos and poker players. A new list of rules was elaborated during this forum, the most important change concerns the organization of rules according to diverse categories such as the general concepts, the pots/showdown, the button/blinds, the errors of dealing, the ethics and the penalties. We shall also note the introduction of 4 new rules concerning number of players per table, the contesting of pots and the flop with 4 cards. The new regulation was adopted by 77 casinos and gaming rooms.
