Vladimir Poutine said: « Gambling is similar as poisoning of population by alcohol, which engenders moral and material damage ". These words were transformed into act because after the closing down of casinos in Russia arisen on July the 1st, 2009, it would be possible that clubs of poker could turn to put their key under the door also. On July the 20th of this year, the Russian ministry of the Youth, Sports and the Tourism directed by Vitaly Mutko has just asserted that poker was crossed off from the list of sports approved by the Russian committee of sports and by the physical training centre, in January, 2004. Nevertheless, in 2007, poker had just been added to the official list of sports.

Passionate of poker in Russia and fans of Alexander Kravchenko, the first Russian holder of a World Series of poker bracelet during the WSOP 2007 and classified at the 4th position during the Main Event of the same year will thus be in mourning. There is also Yevgeniy Timoshenko, a young 21 years old, winner of the finale of the WPT on last April. Seeing the craze of Russians for poker after all these big events, the ministerial decision which prevents enthusiasts from not playing anymore poker amazes a lot. Even, France which was strict concerning the gambling of finally agreed to liberalize online poker. The EPT of Moscow which will take place on August the 17th to the 23rd is thus questioned.
