Main Event : 3,686 participants during the first three days
The beginning of the Main Event of the World Series of Poker (WSOP) was again a great event that many players didnt miss. Even though the first statistics show a fall of affluence, compared to the previous year, 1,116 players during the Day 1A against 1,297 participants in 2008, players enthusiasm for coveting the greatest gain of the year at poker was at its summum. During this first day, players like Ludovic Lacay, Jason Mercier, Isaac Haxton, Sandra Naujoks, Vitaly Lunkin, Sam Farah, Dragan Galic, Gus Hansen
were among the inscribed. At the end of the day, Eric Cloutier became the chipleader with 150,750 chips in the pocket, followed by Redmond Lee with 134,725 chips. Players like John Phan, the Belgian Davidi Kitai, Danzer
were already eliminated at this first round. Accustomed to online poker formed a large part of the participants.
During the Day 1B, 873 poker players were present at the departure line. Mike Matusow, Chris Moneymaker, Alex Kravchenko, Shaun Deeb, Barry Greenstein, Carlos Mortensen, Kara Scott, Matt Woodward
were among them. At the end of the day, French players like Patrick Bruel, Bruno King Fitoussi, Anthony Roux, Fabrice Soulier
were qualified for the Day2. In this way, 683 players survived at this day with Brandon Demes, leading with 140,000 chips. Chris Moneymaker is among the eliminated players of this day. Moreover, the day 1C received 1,697 new players giving so a total of 3,686 inscribed until here. Daniel Negreanu, Marcel Luske, Liv Boeree were among the eliminated players of this third day. 2,400 persons already enrolled for the Day 1D.
